The German Jordanian University (GJU) participated in the German Jordanian Week that commenced during the period 16 – 21 of September, 2017.

 The activity which was inaugurated by the General Manager of the Jordan Museum Mr. Ihab Ammareen on behalf of H.R.H. Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan aims to raise the awareness with German institutions presence and achievements in Jordan, especially in the field of saving water, the use of solar energy for cooling, heat production and Archaeological excavations.

 Dr. Natheer Al- Rawashdeh and Engineer Mahmoud Al-Maghrebi from The School of Applied Technical Sciences (SATS) and Dr. Ayman Batanieh from The School of Natural Resources Engineering and Management (SNREM) contributed to the event by presenting some of the students’ projects.

 As for SATS “the Robotics Lab” exhibited three interesting projects:

The Indoor Mail Robot- Festo Robotino Project, the demo shown was for the robot where it delivers mail from one office to another inside a building in the university, except for the Festo Robotonio base with omni wheels, the project that was entirely built by the students including the software interface and the website to use the robot as part of their graduation project.

The second is the Smart Cart Project, where students designed and built a cart that can be remotely controlled or using sensors to follow the operator.

The third one is the Kuka robot, that included a pick-and- place demo where the robotic arm was programed by the students to do a predefined storing process, during the demos students explored and tested the various options available in the robot like collision detection, freedom of motion and the feedback toolkit.

SNREM presented the solar energy for cooling project that GJU apply with the cooperation with DAAD and the Ministry of Environment in Jordan and funded by the Ministry of Environment of Germany.

The project contributes in saving electricity in the school’s buildings and reflects a great opportunity to the university’s engineers and technicians to work in one of the most important projects in Jordan.
