Amman- 7 June 2018

There was great news from London, England, this morning with the release of the 2019 QS World University Rankings. The German Jordanian University has been recognized as one of the young public top universities in the world and is ranked 751-800 top universities world wide in the QS world university ranking.

GJU is included in the QS world university rankings for the first time ever, this is one of the most prestigious internationally recognized universities ranking. QS classifies GJU as high research intensity and focused subject institution.

2019 QS ranking is based on six pillars; Academic reputation, Employer reputation, Faculty student ratio, citations per faculty members, international faculty and international students registered in the university.

According to the QS published statistics, GJU academic staff contributed 317 internationally recognized peer reviewed journal papers, with over 1241 citations from the international scientific community.

President Professor Manar Fayyad said the university outstanding performance recognized by the QS ranking send a strong message that excellence model adapted by GJU as a bi-cultural, as well an applied science university resulted in outstanding learning outcomes recognized as high employability rate for GJU graduates, and highly cited applied research.

“QS ranking focused on what matter most for academic institutions; it relies on data and information collected directly by QS intelligence unit where bibliometric data is powered by Scopus. It focusses on academic reputation. GJU was only one of 60 lead international institutions considered as new entrants to this prestigious ranking, and the only new entrants from Jordan” professor Fayyad said.

Dr. Anas Atieh, Quality Assurance and Accreditations director at GJU said While MIT, Stanford, and Harvard took top spots in this ranking, it is with great pleasure to have GJU recognized among leaders. GJU is committed to applied research, German dimension and academic quality assurance, “This is reflected in this advancement in the QS rankings”. The purpose of the rankings is to recognize universities as the multi-faceted organizations, and to provide a global comparison of their success against the notional mission of remaining or becoming world-class.

GJU will continue working towards high academic quality performance and will achieve more international accreditations and recognitions. While GJU uses rankings as one of many means for measuring success, earlier this academic year, GJU lunched MYGJU-course portfolio, a great tool to improve the learning experience for our students on our path to maintain excellence.
