Amman- December 20, 2016 

The German Jordanian University (GJU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to embark on a collaborative relationship to disseminate specialized knowledge in the social work field in the context of refugees. 

As German Jordanian University has established the program of Professional Diploma of Social Work for Migration and Refugees which focuses on addressing the challenges facing refugees and migration, the university considered to be cooperated with UNCHR that aims to protect and assist refugees and other persons of concern worldwide, in the field of supporting the social work program  in the context of refugees under this memo.

The MoU was signed by the President of the University Prof. Natheer Abu Obeid on behalf of GJU, and UNHCR Representative to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Mr. Stefano Severe on behalf of UNHCR.

Both sides shall participate in preparing studies and researches in the Social Work in the context of refugees,  contribute to develop curricula for the specialization Professional Diploma of Social Work for Migration and Refugees,  conduct seminars and symposiums and organize training courses, and to improve the competency of the cadres.

The signing was attended by Professor Manar Fayyad, GJU Vice President, Professor Dorit Schumann, GJU Vice President for International Affairs  as well as representative from UNHCR.
