The German Jordanian University (GJU) and Huawei signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in information and communication technology; in the presence of the Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Ahmed Al-Hanandeh, the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China in Jordan Chen Chuandong, the President of Huawei Middle East, Steven Yi, and the CEO of Huawei Jordan, Ethan Wang.

The MoU was signed on behalf of the university by its president, Prof. Alaa'eldeen Al-Halhouli and the Huawei CEO, Ethan Wang, stated the support of trainees from university students and faculty members to become (Huawei certified Academy Instructors), in addition to establishing the Huawei Academy for Information and Communication Technology at the university and allocating it as a training center for all Students from different governorates of the Kingdom.

During the ceremony, Prof.  Al-Halhouli indicated that GJU follows the applied approach in teaching and aspires to be an applied international university and a pioneer in education, research, innovation, and entrepreneurship through the Deanship of Innovation, Technology Transfer, and Entrepreneurship that was recently established at the university, to spread the culture of leadership and innovation in all departments of the university and between community members.

Dr. Al-Halhouli indicated that the university's graduates have high competencies, skills, and qualifications that give them priority to enter the local, regional and global labor market, pointing out that the employment rate among GJU graduates reaches 96 percent in the first year of their graduation.

For his part, the Chinese Ambassador, Chen Chuandong, praised the level of bilateral relations between Jordan and China and the appropriate environment for developing cooperation with Jordanian institutions in information technology and other areas of collaboration.

In turn, the CEO of Huawei, Ethan Wang, stated that knowledge and skill are the cornerstones of progress and development, noting Huawei's excitement to cooperate with the University to establish the Huawei Information Technology Academy to provide courses.

Wang added that Huawei has coordinated with the ministries of Jordan to provide courses in advanced technology, including the topics of the 5G, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.

The delegation toured the university's facilities, and visited its library, the Syrian-Jordanian education project, the Deanship of Innovation, Technology Transfer and Entrepreneurship, and smart classrooms.
