The German Jordanian University (GJU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with MAS KREEDA AL-SAFI, a clothing manufacturer in Jordan, to enhance industrial relations and cooperation between the two parties in areas of common interest.

The agreement, which was signed on behalf of the university by its President, Prof. Ala’aldeen Al-Halhouli, and the company's General Manager, Asila Nandasena, provided for holding lectures, workshops, conducting research and joint meetings, in addition to providing training opportunities for students, field trips, and participating in the activities of the Deanship of Innovation, Technology Transfer and Entrepreneurship at the university, presenting job opportunities announced among university graduates.

Dr. Al-Halhouli indicated that the German Jordanian University is keen to build partnerships with the private sector at various levels and maintain sustainable industrial links, especially since university students are required to obtain full-time local and international industrial training.

Dr. Al-Halhouli also confirmed that the university is proud of this partnership and aspires to expand cooperation between the two sides to support students to gain direct experience working in the garment industry at AL-SAFI.

On the other hand, Mr. Nandasena expressed that, MAS has been in Jordan for last 7 years with an employment of 3800 in total. MAS focuses on talent management; process improvement & invest on technology. Currently 75% of middle management is from Sri Lanka and there is an aggressive plan to bring local fresh talents within next two years to sustain and grow the business. MAS believes GJU is the right education partner to prepare their graduates by engaging early and through deeper collaboration.

The signing ceremony was attended by the Dean of Innovation, Technology Transfer and Entrepreneurship, Dr. Nidal Al-Shawareh, and Assistant Dean Britta Kähler, in addition to the Director of Operations, Mr. Yasas Samarakon, the Business Support Manager, Mr. Hani Al-Maharmah, the HR Manager, Mr. Mohan Perera, the Finance - Assistant Manager, Mr. Ranuka Perera, and the Senior Business Analyst Ms. Mais Hussein.

It is worth noting that MAS is South Asia’s largest apparel tech company, with its local presence in 3 locations - Madaba, Sahab and Ad Dhulayl - in Jordan and exports to multiple destinations including the United States and Europe. MAS KREEDA AL-SAFI employees over 3000 associates of multiple nationalities from Sri Lanka, Jordan, Bengal and Nepal.
