The German Jordanian University (GJU) and Business Development Center (BDC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at cooperating in training several Jordanian youths with ideas or projects related to green entrepreneurship. The President of GJU, Prof. Ala’aldeen Al-Halhouli, and Mr. Ghaleb Hijazi, BDC General Manager, signed the agreement.

The agreement stated that both sides cooperate in awareness and training services, incubating entrepreneurial projects, supporting and developing the entrepreneurs' businesses, participating in intensive capacity building programs, providing specialized guidance, and training for university students, graduates, and the local community in Madaba Governorate for employment and self-employment. It also stated linking these groups with Jordanian and German companies from the private sector through the Deanship of Innovation, Technology Transfer, and Entrepreneurship.

 Dr. Al-Halhouli indicated that the partnership with the center supports the university's vision to support and spread the culture of leadership, innovation, and technology transfer among students and members of GJU in addition to the community, indicating that concerted efforts and recruitment of capabilities and expertise with various institutions is a necessity to contribute to the nation's social and economic advancement.

For his part, Mr. Ghaleb Hijazi said, "We are pleased to sign an agreement with the most important leading universities in motivating young people to entrepreneurship, linking academia to the market and the local community enhances sustainable development opportunities through leadership and innovation, also creates an interactive and participatory system that facilitates access to opportunities. Jordan is abundant in those opportunities and what we have to do is take the initiative and pave the way for it.”

The signing ceremony was attended by the Dean of Innovation, Technology Transfer and Entrepreneurship, Dr. Nidal Al-Shawareh, Innovation Coordinators, Engineer Muhammad Rashdan and Diala Al-Bate, in addition to Mr. Muhammad Shamayleh, Ms. Reem Al-Adwan, and Media Coordinator Malik Al-Khatatbeh.

It is worth mentioning that BDC is a Jordanian (non-profit) organization that contributes to economic development through a group of developmental programs, which assist Jordanian youth to engage in the labor market by employment and entrepreneurship. The center implements the Green Entrepreneurship Program in Jordan; a program financed by the European Union in partnership with the Regional Activity Center for Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP/RAC) to help the institutions of civil society to manage and select entrepreneurs in the field of green entrepreneurship under the supervision of the Business Development Center.
