Udacity (http://www.udacity.com) is a leading silicon valley on-line education platforms. The courses offered by Udacity are usually developed in collaboration with leading universities and companies including Georgia Tech, Google, AT&T, Nvidia, and Mercedez-Benz. Udacity is also known for offering what is referred to as Nanodegrees. Nanodegrees offer credentials in a specific skill set such as full stack development, iOS development, or machine learning among others. Nanodegrees consist of multiple projects and  exercises that are revised by experts in the field. The nanodegrees also offer the opportunity for hiring in some cases.

Recently Udacity has been working on an open sourced self-driving vehicle where it wants to encourage developers to contribute to. As a result, Udacity, in collaboration with Mercedes-Benz, Nvidia, and others decided to offer a one of kind degree for applicants interested in becoming self-driving car engineers. The program has a unique opportunity that would eventually enable the students to develop and run code on an actual autonomous vehicle.

Udacity opened up submissions for applicants worldwide to compete for 250 spots in the program. By the time the submission period was over, Udacity announced that it had received over 11,000 submissions worldwide (http://www.reuters.com/article/us-udacity-autonomous-idUSKCN11Z2IN). Upon the encouragement of his professor, Dr. Omar Hiari, GJU engineering student Hadi Abu-Snineh was one of the 11,000 that applied and got accepted. An opportunity that makes the GJU community proud.

Hadi is set to start the program that would last 9 months in January 2017. We wish Hadi all the success being part of the first cohort of Udacity self driving car engineers. We also hope to hear his name again in the future in the realm of autonomous vehicles.
