Students of the School of Architecture and Built Environment (SABE) -the Department of Design and Visual Communication at the German Jordanian University (GJU) won ALL the prizes in the Arab Student StarPack Competition 2021 for the third time in a row, at the level of Jordanian Universities organized by LibanPack and UNIDO.

GJU students won the top three prizes for the categories Structural Packaging and Visual Packaging under the supervision of Dr. Ziyad Haddad and Arch. Rawan Majzoub.

Zain Nabulsi won the first prize for the category of packaging in food preservation at the level of PAN ARAB AWARD.

As for the structural design category, student Rita Dalal won first place, student Lynn Homsi won second place, and students Ali Hamdan and Zain Nabulsi won third place.

As for the visual design category, Qais Shawabkeh won first place and the student Zain Nabulsi in second place.

The President of GJU, Prof. Ala’aldeen Al-Halhouli, praised the achievement made by the students for their country and university, adding that their win indicates the students and the professors' excellence and their constant keenness to provide high-quality education that blends theoretical and practical sciences.

He stated that the university's students and graduates are the best ambassadors for GJU and the country. Also, he indicated that GJU's students are creative and distinguished in their fields of study and projects as they would employ the university experiences they gained in Jordan and Germany to serve their communities, whether at the local, regional or international levels.

The competition aims to promote creativity and innovation in the field of packaging and involve young people in comprehensive and sustainable industrial development, also provide them with an opportunity to unleash their creativity and develop packaging for their national products. It includes four categories, visual design for packaging, structural design for packaging, packaging in food preservation, and smart packaging for waste.

In addition to Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Iraq, Tunisia, Palestine, Morocco, the Sultanate of Oman, Yemen, and the United Arab Emirates participated in the competition.
