The students of the German Jordanian University (GJU) won the National Debate Competition at the Middle Governorates level in the kingdom, which was held by The annually Program “Ana Usharek+” for students from different partner universities in the Jordan. And the GJU Team will participate in the National Competition which will be held during June.

The competition was held recently at Al-Zaytoonah University and a number of Universities were participated such as: Middle East University, Isra University, Al-Ahliyya Amman University, Al- Balqa' Applied University and Al-Zaytoonah University.

The President of GJU Prof. Manar Fayyad said during her meeting with the students in the presence of the Vice President Dr. Atef Kharabsheh, the Dean of Student Affairs Dr. Raed AlKhasawneh and the Youth Program Coordinator at the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) Haya AL-Ghrair, expressed her pride in the achievements of the university team, which reflects the great culture that students have. Especially the importance of their involvement in the political process and decision-making. Stressing that these debates are working to broaden the awareness of young people and raise awareness more about the political and social issues in their country.

The debates included more than one topic such as, the contribution of civil society institutions in combating corruption in Jordan and the news spread over the means of social communication led to the increasing rumors.

“Ana Osharek” is a free Program for Jordanian students and is implemented in (25) Jordanian universities by the (NDI) and in partnership with the Deanship of Student Affairs in the universities.

The program aims at building knowledge, abilities and skills of students in the field of democracy, human rights and decision-making.

The team of GJU included: Mustafa Mahmmoud Saleh, Suhaib Harb Al-Shoroushe, Mou’yia Qutaina, Mohammed Abou Zaid and Bindly Al-Issa.
