Amman-November 3, 2016

In the framework of GJU’s project conference on “Career Service and Career Guidance in National and International Context” the Office for Industrial Links (OIL) organized on the 3rd of November, 2016 two field trips to Jordanian companies, Coca-Cola Bottling Company and Maani Ventures in order to get an insight about their production lines and discuss cooperation opportunities. Besides representatives from the OIL and KAFD-Career Guidance Office at GJU, German partners from the Career Service at Aschaffenburg University of Applied Sciences also participated and shared their experience to issues of mutual concern.

The Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Jordan in Madaba gave the participants an overview over their regional and national training and development schemes for employees, particularly for the 500 employees of their plant in Madaba. Besides special training courses for employees, an e-learning platform and job-shadowing at different plants, this includes a tailor-made internship program of around six months. A great interest for close future cooperation was expressed by both sides. A visit to the production facilities and the warehouse finished off the first visit.

The second field trip was to Maani Ventures at their Al-Yadoudeh factory. Here, Maani Ventures produces tailor-made furniture for offices, hotels and the educational sector, as well as prefabricated buildings. After a tour of the different production facilities, the participants sat down for talks on current and future avenues of cooperation between Maani Ventures and GJU, which includes student and graduation projects and the possible regular intake of GJU students as interns.

The field trips were an opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge on the training needs and facilities of two different companies in Jordan. It was also an excellent opportunity to exchange further avenues of cooperation, a key objective of the GJU to foster its cooperation with industrial partners. The field trips took place in the frame of the DAAD DIES cooperation „Establishing Career Service Structures and Processes at GJU“ between the Aschaffenburg University of Applied Sciences and GJU.

The Office for Industrial Links would like to express its gratitude to Mr. Nizar Abu Khader and Ms. Nadia Abu Salah from Coca Cola and Eng. Raed Abu Laban and Mr. Murad Mitoubsi from Maani Ventures for their hospitality and great endeavor in facilitating the visits and supporting GJU’s industrial dimension.
