Amman- 6 November 2015

Under the patronage of the GJU President Prof. Natheer Abu Obeid , the GJU-MUN club organized the   GJUMUN's second annual conference at the university's campus, started on Friday 6th of November 2015.  This year's conference consisted of 5 committees; United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), General Assembly 1, General Assembly 2, Security Council, and the Human Rights Council (HRC).

President of the MUN Hussam Al Khreisat kicked off the ceremony with his speech in which he welcomed the delegates and guests, and highlighted the hard work the team has put in to finally reach their goal, that being a very well organized and successful MUN conference.

During the opening ceremony the Vice President Prof. Anton Mansgtl on behalf of the GJU President Prof. Natheer Abu.Obeid , expressed his pride in the youth's devotion, commitment, spirit, and enthusiasm to help create a better future for the current generation, and also set an example for both the past and the future generations that everyone matters and has something unique in them that can help make the world a better place.

This year's conference is under the great sponsorship of Leaders, Haidar Murad and Sons, Chamber of Commerce, and Mr Kamel Murad.

Assistance to the Dean of Student Affairs Mr. Fawwaz Al Saqqar thanked GJUMUN club and participants for their proactive efforts in organizing this conference, saying that it was such an excellent opportunity for participants and observers alike to envision the future they are looking for, and to contribute to shaping it as well.

Ramzi Oumeish, the Secretary General of the conference, described in 4Youth Magazine’s previous interview with him what MUN means to them: "When we look at model UN, we see that it is a fast growing activity for students. It might only be an activity for many, but to a great deal of us it means so much more. MUN has been in Jordan for a number of years now, it was dominant more in schools rather than universities and from that we envisioned a university level conference that takes MUN into a higher level or professionalism, a deeper sense of understanding of world issues and more importantly, combine students from all around Jordan to increase the level of diversity."

The  conference this year tackled a number of topics. Starting with HRC, covering both the Death Penalty and the European Migrant Crisis. Whereas UNHRC approached the conditions, Syrian Refugees and Stateless People are facing. Furthermore, the Security Council addressed the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Last but not least, both General Assembly committees get to grips with both Espionage, Intelligence Gathering and whether the UN uses intelligence for peacekeeping.

Students from all over Universities were there to meet and participate in the conference such as the American University of Madaba, Jordan University of Science and Technology, the University of Jordan, Princess Sumaya University for Technology, National Orthodox School, and even more .
