On Sunday 11th of February 2018, the Social Work Department at the School of Applied Humanities and Languages (SAHL) and the Consultation and Training Center (CTC) at German Jordanian University (GJU), celebrated the graduation of the third batch of the Professional Diploma of Social Work: “Migration and Refugees”.

Vice President for International Affairs Prof. Dorit Schumann congratulated the graduates and thanked the Department for their efforts and achievements especially in succeeding in developing a new master program in Migration and Refugees as a response to the high demand for creating a specialized postgraduate program of social work studies focusing on dealing with the challenges of refugees and migrants.

Head of Social Work Department Dr. Sahar Makhamreh, valued the graduate’s spirit and the passion to learn and make a difference in their environment. She cherished their ideas and experience shared during the study stressing that these inputs are delivered to policymakers during related workshops and conferences.

During the ceremony graduates presented their work and projects they accomplished within the field training of 120 hours with Organizations and NGO’s dealing with refugees, while graduate Lina Asfour presented a speech on behalf of her colleagues, expressing her happiness reaching this point, indicating to the extraordinary opportunity to learn and work with students from different backgrounds, specialties, and cultures. 

It is worthy to mention that 30 students joined the diploma from eight countries including Jordan, Syria, Iraq, Germany, Vietnam, Sudan, France and Dutch
