The Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research at GJU in cooperation with the Higher Council for Science and Technology, and the European Delegation in Amman, organized an info session by the Support to Research, Technological Development and Innovation Project in Jordan “SRTD II” which included presentations about the project’s activities and the possibility of utilizing the grants. 

 

As the “SRTD II" project in Jordan has launched a second call for proposals for grant in the areas of Applied Research and Commercialization, Ms. Maral Niressesian, key Area Coordinator gave an overview about SRTD II, that will build on the research and commercialization elements of SRTD-I providing more focus on supporting applied research based on national priorities.

 

For her part, Ms. Janet Keegan, TA Procurement and Financial Expert, spoke about the grants scheme, saying that the overall number of grants expected under both calls to be awarded is 60; 40 for Applied Research and 20 for Commercialization, the maximum funding for a grant may not exceed €25,000.

 

The second call for proposals was officially launched on the 26 Oct.2014 with a deadline for submission of proposals by 28 Dec.2014, 2 pm local time. The proposals should be delivered to the Higher Council for Science and Technology Building. 

 

The 2nd call was lunched in order to achieve the overall objective of SRTD II, which is to increase the contribution of Jordan’s Research & Technological Development and Innovation sectors to Jordan’s economic growth and employment by increasing applied research in the four key areas Water, Energy, Food and Health identified in Jordan’s national research priorities, with focus on supporting and involving private sector in Applied Research and turning innovative ideas from research to Commercialization.

 

It is worthy to mention that the session was held in the presence of Prof. Majed Abu Zreig,Dean of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research and some professors from the university.
