Amman- 7 November 2018

On Monday, November 5, 2018, the Deanship of Student Affairs (DSA) at the German Jordanian University (GJU) and Jordan Transparency Center (JTC) organized an interactive dialogue about “Universities against Corruption Initiative” in cooperation with The United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) has implemented the regional project on “Anti-Corruption and Integrity in the Arab Countries" (ACIAC) which is specialized in strengthening cooperation and promoting collective action against corruption, by focusing on safeguarding integrity and developing national capacities to prevent and combat corrupt practices such as bribery, embezzlement, trade in influence, abuse of authority and illicit enrichment.

Head of ACIAC project, Arkan El Seblani, stated that the initiative aims to work with universities across different governorates, to raise the awareness of students on anti-corruption, connect motivated youth and help them to become more engaged in related discussions taking place at the national level.

During the session, GJU’s students enthusiastically engaged in a dialogue with Seblani identifying the concept of corruption, and how youth can effectively participate in the initiative.
