Dr. Mohammed Hajjiri , Co-Chair Harvard Arab World Conference- USA,  delivered an informative lecture entitled “ Building Tomorrow “ at GJU on Wednesday, 4th of January , 2017. The lecture was organized in collaboration between the School of Applied Technical Sciences and the Deanship of Student Affairs.

Dr. Hajjiri started his lecture by interacting with students and asking them as an Arabs, how would they identify themselves with their race or their nationality? Some would think of themselves by their nationality first, while others think of themselves based on their race and their nationality.  In addition, some would only think about being Arabs when they are reminded about it by others.

That was the key Dr. Hajjiri used to start talking to students and other audience from deans and professors, to explain more about the Harvard Arab Alumni Association (HAAA) , which is focusing on two main objectives: strengthen the Arab Voice in Harvard and building a strong network of Harvard Alumni with interest in Arab World. A simple message that Dr. Hajjirii was trying to tell is that Arabs have an incredible skills and abilities , and that there is no preference for Arabs over non-Arabs, their achievements were great and could be more greater in future.

He emphasized that HAAA aims at helping more Arabs to get a Harvard Education, creating and contributing to their communities; Harvard Arabs should be Arabs, and to have network and connections.

He further added that Harvard Arab World Conference 2017 will be held in Jordan under the patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah, in March 11th 2017 , where it will be gathering a world renowned keynote speakers , and including some networking activities.

Dr, Hajjiri had a wide discussion with students about” Building Arab Education “ , the curriculum , Affiliation with International Institutions and  Innovation.

It is worthy to mention that Dr. Hajjirii met with the GJU President Professor Natheer Abu Obeid and discussed further cooperation in future.
