Deanship of Student Affairs at German Jordanian University (GJU) in cooperation with Jordan Transparency Center (JTC) organized an interactive workshop for the students entitled “Universities against Corruption Initiative”.

The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) has implemented the regional project on “Anti-Corruption and Integrity in the Arab Countries" (ACIAC) which is specialized in strengthening cooperation and promoting collective action against corruption, by focusing on safeguarding integrity and developing national capacities to prevent and combat corrupt practices such as bribery, embezzlement, trade in influence, abuse of authority and illicit enrichment.

Head of ACIAC project, Arkan El Seblani, said that this initiative was launched to interact with universities and create a dialogue with the students based on freedom of speech.

He also stressed the importance of the youth role by raising their awareness and empowering them to take an active part in the society to fight corruption, especially that 60% of Arab’s population consists of youth aged under 30 and 30% from 15-29.

During the session, students participated in the discussion by volunteering answering and asking questions about the concept of corruption, its definition, and addressed their perspectives on corruption and youth role to face this phenomenon.
