Amman-15 November 2015

 

In collaboration between TU Dortmund University and GJU, an opening ceremony of the joint workshop on Intercultural Dialog towards Reclaiming Public Spaces within Metropolitan Areas was held at Darat /SABE on 15th of November 2015.

The five-days workshop will discuss the project’s objectives, finding perquisites to a new theoretical conception of how to restrain   and alleviate the segregation between social groups in Amman, and assessment of reality-oriented development of growth patterns that can create a reference to future studies.    

On behalf of the President Prof. Natheer Abu Obeid, Prof. Manar Fayyad the Vice President of GJU welcomed all guests and students, and emphasized on the importance of this workshop which would be very beneficial to implement on certain places in Amman especially the downtown to avoid any kind of damage or problems.     

For their parts Dr. Mohammad Yaghan, Dean of SABE and the Head of Deputy Mission Mr. Ralph Schroeer, pointed out to that we need to have such a cultural dialog, which contributes to the core objective of this project to develop strategies and action plans for both Amman and Dortmund. 

The opening ceremony included various presentations given by each of Dr. Maram Tawil, Dr. Mais Jafrai , Eng. Yasemin Utku and Eng.Katja Schlisio.  

The ceremony was held in the presence of some of the heads of departments and professors at GJU, Eng. Amjad Herzallah Mayor Advisor for Buildings Affairs, as well as students from GJU and Dortmund.
