Amman- 16 October 2019

A group of enthusiastic students with their mentors and supervisors from the City University of Applied Sciences ( Hochschule Bremen)- Computer Science Department and the German Jordanian University (GJU) – school of Electrical Engineering and Information technology (SEEIT) participated in an Entrepreneurship Skills Development workshop at the GJU in the period from 29.9.2019 to 4.10.2019.

The workshop, which is funded by a grant from DAAD and managed by the GJU office in Magdeburg, aimed to encourage students to leverage their ideas and projects to successful startups and turn them into real businesses.

The unique thing in this workshop that interested students from both universities were asked to form teams, discuss their ideas together remotely before meeting together in Jordan, then write proposals about their projects that they will work on during the workshop. Amazingly, students were able to establish groups and started the communication process without seeing or knowing each other, but what moved them to do that is their interests and passion for Entrepreneurship and having collaborative projects between Germany and Jordan.

During the workshop, the students had several interactive sessions where they acquired new skills and received feedback about their ideas and how to take it forward to the next level.

At the end of the workshop, Prof. Dr. Ralf Roßkopf, Vice President for International Affairs at GJU attended the closing ceremony and emphasized the importance of exploring different venues and opportunities toward turning students’ ideas into real startups.

The workshop  was managed from the German Jordanian University side by Dr. Ala’ Khalifeh, Dr. Dhiah Aboutair , Ms Samira Khraiwesh from the  School of  Electrical and Information Technology, Ms. Stefanie Kirschm Fadi Tawal, Jessica Rex, from the International Office. From HSB side,  Prof. Dr. Martin Hering-Bertram,         Prof. Andreas Teufel, Prof. Dr. Lars Braubach, Prof. Dr. Peter Krug, from the computer science department, and  Birgit Averbeck from HS-Bremen International office.
