At this time of the year, the German Jordanian University’s Students are preparing themselves to leave to Germany to spend their German year and being gathered at a kick off meeting organized by the International Office.

Prof. Natheer Abu Obeid, GJU President welcomed the guests and said that it’s a moment of Joy when we witness another patch of students going to Germany and getting into a wonderful adventure, adding that we are expecting from them  to be a good presentations of the academic standards of GJU. 

Abu Obeid pointed out that the most important thing to adding value in this adventure is to interact with the German society and the German culture, urging the students to have some cross cultural learning and present the real story about their culture and country and reflect a bright model of the Jordanian youth.

For his part Mr. Jaime Sperberg, the Cultural Attache’ of Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, assured that it is a great chance to students to be experienced for a one year in Germany, learning about a new culture and interacting with different people and backgrounds, considering that the German year is a challenge for  GJU and students.

Prof. Dorit Schumann, Vice President for International Affairs, who delivered her speech in German language welcomed all the guests and students, and urged outgoing students to seize this opportunity and try to speak the German language as much as they can because that would help them to engage into the German society and the different social and cultural activities.

Prof. Schumann also emphasized that Intercultural interaction is very important and that GJU students have to be a great models of the Arab world, represent a pleasant image about their country and coming back with a positive changes. 

Mr. Micahel Nazzal, Chairman of the Jordan Federation of Tourism Associations, spoke about the importance of the tourism that became an important sector, has an impact on development of country economy, and the main benefits of tourism ; the income creation and generation of jobs. He gave the students a brief about various tourist sites in Jordan and its features so they can transfer this beautiful image about Jordan to Germany.

On his side  Dr. Omar Shubailat, Dean of Student of  Affairs said that the deanship has a counseling office for all students, when they have inquirers or any problem they could face while staying in Germany.

It is worth mentioning that the meeting included several presentations by returnee students, who covered a range of important topics about their personal experience in Germany.
