Under the Patronage of His Excellency Mr. Taher Al Masri, former Prime Minister and former Speaker of the Senate, in the presence of her Excellency Prof. Dr. Johanna Wanka; Federal Minister of Education and Research, his Excellency Mr. Aqel Beltaji; the Mayor of Greater Amman’s Municipality, his Excellency Mr. Ralph Tarraf; the German Ambassador to Jordan and the heads and representatives of the German and Austrian partner universities.

 

GJU celebrated, in the context of its’ 10th Anniversary, the launching of “Friends of GJU” Forum at Darat Othman Bdeir’s campus.

 

The forum aims to offer a number of packages for sponsoring the initiatives and activities that include but not limited to the following: establishing GJU Business and Industrial Park; supporting Incubators for GJU Entrepreneurs. 

 

Prof. Nahteer Abu Obeid, GJU’s President spoke about the idea behind the forum of “Friends of GJU” and its’ objectives. He expressed his appreciation for the local and strategic partnerships between the University and the industries in the community in Jordan and in Germany. He also spoke about GJU’s slogan of “E for E” in the last decade which means education for employment, and the slogan “E for E & E” which is education for entrepreneurship and employment for the coming decade.

 

Britta Kähler, the director of GJU’s office for Industrial Links, said that GJU is always keen to  bridge the gap between the academia and industry and provide its’ students with an applied education that gives them the necessary tools to be ready for the job market.

 

She highlighted the inauguration of PIE, the Program of Innovation and Entrepreneurship to support the entrepreneurial activities.

 

The GJU graduate and young Entrepreneur, Mr. Saed Younis described how the openness, cultural variety and joint learning at GJU have helped him to start his own company “IRay Technologies LTD” and online broadcast “Riyadi min Biladi” which means “A Leader from my home country”.

 

During the ceremony, her Excellency Prof. Dr. Johanna Wanka and his Excellency Mr. Taher Al Masri expressed their joy and gratitude for the cooperation between GJU and the industrial companies in both worlds, and how GJU has proven itself in the business world and could gain the recognition of the most important companies in both countries.

 

The ceremony ended with signing the MoU between GJU and GAM for cooperation between the University and Hawa Amman Radio Station, honoring the Heads of Consortiums and representatives of the German and Austrian Partner Universities, presenting the GJU shield to his Excellency Mr. Taher Al Masri and presenting the shield of the city of Amman by his Excellency Mr. Aqel beltaji to her Excellency Prof. Dr. Johanna Wanka.
