On 10th of September 2017, Under the patronage of Eng. Othman Bdeir, Chairman of the GJU Board of Trustees, and in the presence of Princess Madja Ra’ad, the President of German Jordanian University Dr. Manar Fayyad, the President of Al Hussain Technical University Dr. Labib AlKhadra and Vice President for International Affairs at GJU Dr. Dorit Schumann, the GJU Vision Training Center launched the “Sponsorship Program” for the benefit of persons with low vision.

The ceremony aims to raise donations to provide a comprehensive assessment to persons with low vision and magnifying devices free of charge.

Eng. Bdeir expressed his proudness with the center’s achievements and tremendous efforts toward persons with low vision, pointing to the beautiful drawings that were conducted by the children after receiving the proper aids for their vision conditions.

The President of GJU Dr. Manar Fayyad appreciated Prince Ra'ad bin Zeid contentious support to GJU especially the Vision Training Center, thanking Mr. Bdier and the center to all their work for Jordan’s children to overcome the hardship and challenges they face daily because of their disability.

She also mentioned that the center has a high reputation in Jordan and the area and became a symbol of diligence and determination.

Director of the center Dr. Nathalie Bussieres, presented an introduction to the center, its activities and main services they offer, besides the educational side represented by the Professional Diploma in Vision Rehabilitation and training courses for optometrists and clinicians.

During the ceremony, Maisaa Saoud, gave a live presentation for the available devices, the use of each one and how it benefits and facilities the patient's life in accomplishing daily simple tasks such as reading, shopping and using devices.

  It is worth mentioning, that The GJU Vision Training Center is committed to using 100% of the money from the sponsors to purchase assistive devices to persons with visual impairment (optical and electronic magnifiers, long canes and other tools based on the individual needs of the service users).
