On Thursday, April 18, 2019, The German Jordanian University (GJU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Friedrich-Schiller University /JENA in Germany in the fields of scientific, academic and research exchanges.

The MOU was signed at the main campus of the university in the presence of the President of GJU Prof. Manar Fayyad and Director of the Center at Friedrich-Schiller University/ JENA Prof. Martin Leiner.

Under the agreement, academic and student exchanges will be coordinated between the two universities. As well as work on joint educational, research and cultural projects. In addition to participate in various scientific conferences.

During the meeting, Fayyad presented an overview of the university and the majors, noting that it was built in the same way as the German universities in Applied Sciences.

She added that the university system is based on sending students in the penultimate year to Germany for one year to study at one of the German university partner, as well as getting training opportunities in German companies or factories.

Fayyad talked about the EDU-Syria Program which is funded by the European Union Regional Trust Fund in Response to the Syrian Crisis (the Madad Fund) and the German Jordanian University, which aims to introduce the international community to the challenges, faced the Syrian students refugees in Jordan and disadvantaged Jordanian students in higher education.

For his part, Leiner presented an overview of the Friedrich-Schiller University/ JENA as one of the oldest German universities. Expressing his happiness with his visit to Jordan and GJU. He also stressed the importance of academic and students exchange to obtain more scientific and practical experiences.

The agreement, which was attended by the Dean of Applied Humanities and Languages School Dr. Alaaldeen Al-Halhouli, Dr. Rawan Ibrahim, Head of Social Work Department Dr. Christine Huth-Hildebrandt, Director of International Office Jens Hegemann and the Coordinator of the Syrian-Jordanian Education Program (EDU-SYRIA) Dr. Dhiah Abou-Tair, to expand academic partnerships in order develop multiple scientific and research aspects.

The Friedrich-Schiller University JENA is one of Germany's ten oldest and most famous universities. It offers a number of Majors in the fields of Humanities, Politics Sciences, Computer Sciences, History and Economics.
