This year’s network meeting of SEEIT took place at GJU, hosted by the Exchange Coordinator Dr. Dhiah el Diehn I. Abou-Tair and supported by the members of the IT school, in particular CS department head Dr. Abdullah Alfarrarjeh and Exchange Officer Eng. Samira Khraiwesh.  Network speaker Prof. Dr. Rainer Herpers (HS Bonn-Rhein-Sieg) moderated the meeting and guided the participants though the different agenda points.

The event took place from 31st of October to 1st of November 2022 and marks the last of the network meetings of the GJU academic networks for the year 2022.

GJU´s Vice President for International Affairs, Prof. Dr. Reiner Finkeldey, joined the meeting on the second day, when he also opened, and participated as panelist, in the IDL@GJU dissemination event that took place that same morning. Simultaneously a student workshop in “Digitalization Heritage”  for twenty-two students from the different partner universities of SEEIT also took place at GJU. 

Represented at the network meeting were the following universities who`s representatives travelled to Jordan- TH Brandenburg, HS Darmstadt, HS Bremen, EAH Jena, FH Frankfurt and HS Fulda, as well as HS Trier who joined the network meeting online. 

After some welcome words by the Dean of SEEIT, Prof. Feras Al-Hawari, the Exchange Coordinator presented the network with general department updates and the new SEEIT study tracks in particular. Special emphasis was given at various points in the meeting to the topic of the significant increase in student numbers the school celebrated this year and the challenges this implies for the German Year.

Joint research, research clusters and possible funding opportunities were also on the agenda as well as an update on the accreditation process. The participants were further able visit the Di-Tech and the Innovation Space at GJU`s Madaba Campus on the first day of the meeting.

The second day of the network meeting took place at SABE Campus, where the Exchange Coordinator of the Design Department, Dr. Rawan Majzoub and Dr. Abdullah Alfarrarjeh  from SEEIT opened the second part of the network meeting with updates of the new “Design and Media Informatics” program, a continuation of the collaboration started in the network meetings of SEEIT and SABE  in 2021.

Prof. Dr. Reiner Finkeldey, GJUs Vice President, continued with some updates that GJU had undergone since 2021 and an outlook into the future with focus on interdisciplinary and research.

The new Dean of SABE, Dr. Omaimah Ali introduced herself to the network and invited the members for a coffee break at the deanship. Rounding off the 2022 SEEIT network meeting were two alumni student reports and final discussions on follow-ups and continuation of the SEEIT network activities for the year 2023.
