On Tuesday, October 8, 2019, the German Jordanian University (GJU), represented by its President Prof. Manar Fayyad, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with EY Jordan represented by its Managing Partner, Osama Shakhatreh.

The MoU was signed in the presence of the Vice President Prof. Atef Kharabsheh, the Dean of the School of Management and Logistic Sciences (SMLS) Dr. Malek Alsharairi, the Dean of the School of Architecture and Built Environment (SABE) Dr. Zeyad Haddad,  Vice Dean of SMLS, Dr. Bassam Maali, and the Human Resource Director at EY Jordan, Eman Ayoub.

Prof. Manar Fayyad assured EY's representatives of the quality of education at GJU that adopts the applied sciences approach similar to German Universities, indicating to GJU students' qualities, especially after the life changing experience in the German Year.

Fayyad stressed the students' high reputation and qualifications in the job market in Jordan and Germany.

From his side, Shakhatreh stressed that EY Jordan as a well- known brand in Jordan is interested in attracting and recruiting talented graduates with an exceptional education such as GJU's graduates.

Driven by the Corporate Social Responsibility role to support educational institutions and as an opportunity to promote both EY and GJU in the local market, EY has agreed to establish the "EY Business Lounge" at the SMLS building to be used by the School's Professors, administration team and guest professors.

Dr. Malek specified that the "EY Business Lounge" at the SMLS is a wonderful addition of a modern space to enrich the interaction and dialogue between colleagues in the school.

Further, he indicated that SMLS is proud to collaborate with one of the biggest auditing and business consultation firms in the world. Moreover, Dr. Malek added that SMLS initiated discussions to further collaborate with EY in regards to the Dual Study program in International Accounting.

Dr. Zeyad Haddad explained that GJU's design students participated in creating the internal design of the business lounge in alignment with EY branding, under the supervision of their instructors. He said that the students went through a real-life experience starting from the selection phase of a jury composed of EY representatives, SMLS Dean, and himself until the implementation of the project .  

At the end of the signing ceremony, both sides officially opened the "EY Business Lounge".
