Amman 18 October 2018

Under the supervision of Dr. Qasem Abdelal, students Mothafer Al-Ja'afreh, Tameem Haddadin, and Engineer Khaldoun Ayoub, from the School of Natural Resources Management constructed a pilot scale setup to evaluate the environmental and water quality impact of floating solar panels.

Floating photovoltaic (PV) panels provide an emerging application which is expected to help reduce evaporation, improve water quality, and hopefully enhance energy output of PV cells.

A weather station was installed on site. This station provides real time data of the weather conditions on campus that can be accessed freely (links below). It also provides local historical record that can be utilized in future research.

This pilot setup is constructed at University premises and is fully funded by the Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research.
