Placement Tests Announcement for new students
Arabic and English (all new students)
Math (Engineering students and computer science)

Dear students,
Congratulations on your admission to the German Jordanian University, wishing you success and good luck. We would like to inform you that the School of Basic Sciences and Humanities will hold the three placement test exams (Arabic Language, Mathematics, and English Language) according to the times listed below. Note that taking the exam is compulsory because the student will not be able to register for the first semester unless he/she has taken the exams. In addition, passing the exam will exempt the student from pre-courses with zero credit hours as well as it opens the way for choosing more subjects upon registration. Therefore, we request that you take the matter seriously. Please read the entire message below before you attempt the exam. The exams will start on Monday 21-09-2020 8:00am.
- General information:
If your major is engineering or computer science, then you must do all three exams. (Note that you only need to do one math placement test based on your language preference. Do not do both.)
For all other students (including students majoring in Design and Visual Communication at The School of Architecture and Built Environment) you only need to do Arabic and English Language placement tests (Math placement test is not required).
The math test covers general math topics, integration and differentiation will not be included on the exam.
Once you start any of the exams, the timer will start and the system will close the exam after the allocated time is over. The time for each test will be shown at the beginning of the test (before you start). Please make sure to time yourself; there will be no warning or timer throughout the exam. Once the allocated time ends, the exam will close. No extra time will be given and any unanswered question will be considered wrong.
You will get only one attempt for each test.
After the exam is over you will be able to see your score. The Arabic Language and Math placement tests passing score is 50. Passing the placement tests will allow you to register for Arabic 100 and Calculus I (Math101) respectively. Otherwise, you will have to register ARB099 and/or Math099 pre-courses.
Kindly note that English Placement Test is not a pass or fail exam. It is tailored to place each student in one of the following levels according to his/ her score as shown in the table below:

Once the Level of the student is assigned, the student will have to register in it. A student can skip level two, three or four according to his language proficiency. Engl 201 and Engl 202 are mandatory.
You should do your best, as these exams cannot be repeated.

Arabic language placement test will be open at all times from 21-09-2020 until 30-09-2020.
It is up to you to pick the day and time slot that fits your schedule.

Username: this is the same as your MyGJU username which is the first part of your GJU email. e.g. if your email is abc.defg@gju.edu.jo then your user name would be abc.defg
