Amman- 6 April 2022

As part of the Flying Faculty program at the German Jordanian University (GJU), Professor Martin Steinhauser is giving a series of lectures for GJU undergraduate students of Dr. Dia Zeidan at the School of Basic Sciences and Humanities (SBSH) in Calculus I (MATH101) and Calculus II (MATH102) courses.

During Prof Steinhauser’s mathematical lectures in both German and English language, he also introduced his home university, Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences (in German: FRA-UAS), and the German educational system to students. His motivation is driven by the need of alerting GJU students during their early years about what they should expect from the German educational system before leaving for their German year. Students listened carefully to Professor Steinhauser, raised many questions for stimulating discussions. Additionally, the professor explained scientific problems and future collaborations with SBSH as well as other departments at GJU during his visit.

He holds the Professorship in Applied Physics and Computer Science – important branches of Computational and Applied Mathematics – at his home university in Frankfurt and is a distinguished researcher.

The Flying Faculty Program has built a bridge to facilitate understanding and communications between faculties and students from Germany and GJU. Professor Steinhauser said he believes that through such collaboration, the program will empower both students and faculty members with excellent knowledge in the fields of mathematical and engineering sciences and improve the level of current GJU mathematical courses to meet with German courses.
