The Vice-President of the German Jordanian University, Prof. Manar Fayyad has won the Arab Woman Award in Science and Technology for Development in 2014 in the field of environmental sciences.

 

The award that was organized by the Arab Women Organization aims at introducing the Arab women who have added a valuable work in the field of science and technology to the Arab and international community, and it aims also at encouraging Arab women researchers in the Arab world or in abroad to serve their countries.

 

The General Director of the Arab Women Organization, the Ambassador Mervat Tellawi said that the Award’s jury memberswere found a remarkable achievement of the overall scientific work that presented by Prof. Fayyad, during the years 2009 to 2014.

 

Ms. Tellawi emphasized that Prof. Fayyad represents the model of the creative Arab woman, wishing to see a generation of young scientists Arab women alongside Prof. Manar Fayyad in the field of scientific research to develop the Arab societies.

 

For her part, Prof. Fayyad expressed her happiness of this award of environmental science this year, indicating that this appreciation is a great example of honoring the Jordanian and Arab women in the field of education and scientific research.

 

She also affirmed that GJU shows a great importance to the scientific research to serve the Arab countries and to contribute to develop the Arab societies as well.

 

It is worthy to mention that Prof. Manar Fayyad has a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Bonn University- Germany, and she is a member of the higher committee for Water Quality in Jordan/Ministry of Water and Irrigation.
