Amman- April, 2017

GEBC (German and English for Business and Communication) students from the School of Applied Humanities and Languages (SAHL) visited Royal Jordanian (RJ) headquarters and were welcomed by German Jordanian University (GJU) graduates employed at RJ.

GJU is the first university that highlights the importance of communication in the Kingdom through its GEBC program at the School of Applied Humanities and Languages (SAHL). As the field of business communication evolves in the world today so do the applied skills students learn in the program.

RJ is a local airline company established in 1963 with a fleet of 25 aircrafts and a member of World Alliance. RJ travels to 1000 cities in the world and ensures that its passengers always receive the best service possible onboard its aircrafts. Its vision is to be the airline of choice connecting Jordan and the Levant with the world while projecting the highest level of safety, security, reliability and cost efficiency as an air transportation company.

After the warm welcome they received from GJU graduates at RJ, GEBC students were invited to a short introduction about the HR & Administration Department/HR Planning & Development by Mrs. Heba Hadidi, HR & Administration Department/HR Planning & Development Director. Mrs. Hadidi gave a welcoming speech and initiated the flow of questions from students.  Thereafter, the students were briefed by Mr. Yazan Yakhoul, Planning & Development Engineer HR & Administration Department, about the tasks the department does and the opportunities it offers for graduates and employees in terms of manpower planning and training. Then a short video was played as a brief historical overview on how the company began and where it has reached so far in the air transportation world. As a result, the students got to learn that RJ’s name was introduced in 1986 after being named Alia years before.  The importance of social media and its role in marketing and advertising RJ was highlighted by the social media officer, Ms. Asala Manaseer, who focused on how social media is an important marketing tool in generating sales and publicity on all mainstream media platforms used nowadays. She also gave several examples on how RJ uses current hot news topics to advertise its company in a friendly and humorous manner while ensuring it focuses on the content rather than the number of followers. The dialogue content combined with light humor has definitely exposed RJ globally and people are now waiting for RJ Ads. in anticipation.

At the end of the presentations, the students were given a chance to ask questions regarding the services and the professional opportunities the company has to offer them as students and future graduates in the field of business communication. The opportunities RJ discussed with the students covered internship and future job opportunities where their competences will be fully utilized. With the European experience as an added plus on their resume, GEBC students are confident to endeavor any professional opportunity in the world of business planning and communication and provide a high class business communication service in the future.
