Amman- 30 April 2019

The Road Safety Center of Excellence at the German Jordanian University (GJU), in cooperation with Madrasati Initiative, the Royal Automobile Club, and Hikmat for Traffic Safety began the implementation of "accident-free schools" program.

This program is currently executed at Firas Al-Ajlouni Secondary School for Boys- Wadi AlSeer and Hasslan Secondary School for Girls - Naor.

The program aims at introducing the students at schools to the seriousness of the wrong behaviors on roads and prepare them on the basics of traffic safety as pedestrians and future drivers.

The program includes five activities per school for five weeks. On March 30 and April 6, volunteers from GJU and Balqa Applied University trained students on the safe passage on streets, and the correct behaviors while sitting inside a vehicle.

As part of the program, Jordan Traffic Institute and The Jordanian Civil Defense will conduct various activities including awareness training for students, volunteers and traffic guides, as well as theatrical and folklore performances by Wahj AlShams Band.

The program integrates the efforts of traffic safety institutions to raise awareness among the children to create consciousness and responsibility.

In addition, the program seeks to create a high level of awareness among youth with the concept of the well- being of themselves and others.
