Students from the course (Packaging Design) at the Department of Design and Visual Communication, School of Architecture and Built Environment (SABE) at the German Jordanian University (GJU) were assigned to design Medjool Dates package for a client that looks unique and aesthetic, premium, and contemporary. The visual identity of the package was asked to represent Jordan and the Holy Land.

Out of 13 designs, the client chose the top three designs where students Nataly Zagha, Clara Nassar, and Katia Laham won the competition.

Arch. Rawan Majzoub, the course instructor, stated that in view of the fact that GJU follows the practical and applied approach to education, its contacts with the industry, and the reputation of the School in winning Arab and international awards where the designs are actually implemented; the client approached the university and requested a presentable durable package that could be gifted or used as a promotional item.

Majzoub added that the package was designed for the European market, mainly in Greece students were asked to come up with a new or improved packaging design of a new mold/ die-cut and an original visual package that would compete and stand out on the shelf.
