Students from the School of Applied Humanities and Languages (SAHL) at the German Jordanian University (GJU) visited Al Hayat Center for Civil Society Development on Thursday October 10, 2019. The visit was part of their practical field work for the course Overview: Politics & Institutions.

SAHL students were welcomed by the Moderator Mr. Amer Al Nawayseh and his team. Mr. Nawayseh gave a brief overview about the center and its goals in which he highlighted the success stories the center accomplished through various social events in Jordan, especially Al-Rased project that monitors elections and parliamentary voting.

In addition, Mr. Nawayseh showcased a short presentation about successful civil society projects supported by the center in various governorates in the Kingdom, These projects revolved around women and the small initiatives they have made so far in developing their communities and cities.

Thereafter, SAHL students were given the opportunity to ask questions pertaining to the work done by the center in terms of empowering youth and small projects, and where they can be active members in the form of volunteers or have a more political and social involvement in projects supported by the center.

Mr. Nawayseh added that there are many opportunities for youth, especially for the German Jordanian Students, which the center has had a successful experience with its students in the past. Furthermore, he was keen on encouraging SAHL to students to participate in the preparations for the upcoming elections as interns and volunteers in order to get a closer insight on how politics operates in their country.
