A student delegation from the Industrial Engineering Department / School of Applied Technical Sciences (SATS) at the German Jordanian University (GJU) visited Ramallah Company for Steel Industry (RAMCO) in Zarqa to learn about the steel production process. Students started their visit with a site safety orientation and a brief company description presented by Eng. Ala` Alrefai.
Eng. Abdallah Bani Omar and Eng. Mohammad Khalaifah SATS students had a full access tour to explore the major plant's manufacturing processes and departments, which include steel scrap yards, melt shop and continuous casting, wires drawing, rolling mill, heat treatment, mesh welding, control room, quality assurance, and supply chain departments, and testing laboratories.
Dr. Mohammad AbuShams of SATS and the trip organizer emphasized the importance of these visits stating that industrial visits are essential for every engineering student as it provides a clear picture of a complete manufacturing process from raw material to the final product. He added that it is not only the theoretical education inside the classrooms, but its sole objective is to have a practical experience with all basics.
GJU and SATS valued the hospitality and cooperation of RAMCO, represented by general manager Eng. Yacoub Hassouneh and with plant employees. Both sides are looking forward to future collaboration.
