Amman- 26 August 2019

On Tuesday, July 30, 2019, the School of Management and Logistics Sciences (SMLS) at the German Jordanian University (GJU) arranged a scientific field trip to Agility Logistics in Sahab Industrial Zone.

Agility is one of the world’s leading logistics service providers with 500 offices in more than 100 countries employing around 22,000 employees. The group of logistics students was led by Dr Ismail Abushaikha, the Head of Logistics Sciences Department, Dr Luay Juma and the Director of OIL Office, Ms. Britta Kaehler.

Agility represented by Eng. Ammar Gharaibeh, Operations Manager, and his amazing logistics team, offered the students a tour of their 9000 Sqm Nestle warehouse, a temperature controlled warehouse and a multi-client warehouse accommodating products for 20 major customers, which was located around 7 km away from the first warehouse. The logistics team of Agility talked thoroughly about their services, warehouse facilities, and distribution fleet, which serves the Jordanian market from three different storage locations.

Students had previously studied about the different types of technologies and equipment used in warehouses and the visit gave the students an opportunity to gain in depth- knowledge about the systems used in Agility warehouses. By the end of the tour, the students experienced the approaches and practical operations of the site.  The visit to Agility Co.  helped the students gain a wider exposure and were able to visualize the synchronization between processes and understand the internal material and external flows.

Thank you Agility Logistics Team! for your time, effort and the rich information you have provided to GJU students.
