The Deanship of Scientific Research and Graduate Studies at German Jordanian University GJU in cooperation with the Scientific Research Support Fund (SRSF)organized lecture about higher education sector and the future of scientific research in Jordan.
SRSF Director General Dr. Abdullah Zu’biemphasized the importance of higher education and scientific research in country prosperity and developing the economic sector, pinpointing to the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II to make efforts in field of education that can help to incentivize efficiency and productivity.
He further added that it is very important to concentrate on the technical and applied universities to transfer today’s technology and have well educated workforce who are prepared for a dynamic economy.
Dr. Zu’bi also gave a presentation in which he explained how to advance the education that needs a real investment in higher education and scientific researches and how to work on building a technological and research fields.
Additionally , he spoke about SRSF that provides funding for research and development projects and assistance to solve technical problems of the Jordanian industrial companies, encourages private organizations to allocate resources (financial) for research and development activities, and helps universities and research centers focus their research and development activities on areas of interest to Jordanian businesses.
The GJU President Prof. Natheer Abu Obeid stressed on the importance to link between the scientific research especially the applied researches and entrepreneurship, to achieve the economic and social development.
At the end of the lecture, Prof. Majed Abu Zreig, Dean of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research headed an expanded discussion in the presence of GJU Vice Presidents , professors and academic members about higher education and how the researchers can benefit from the grants and support that are provided by the Fund.
