Under the frame of the Arab American Frontiers (AAF) Fellowship, Prof. Noureddine Raouafi from the Chemistry Department at the University of Tunis El-Manar visited GJU and spent a week doing research in Nano Sensors with GJU's Nano and Chemistry labs. Prof. Noureddine and Dr. Ala'aldeen Al-Halhouli have been granted the AAF fellowship on their proposal: “Development of Electrochemical Biosensing Systems Applying Nanomaterials”.

In close collaboration with Dr. Mohammad Khanfar, the team investigated modifying the surface of screen-printed electrode to be integrated with technological devices prepared by Dr. Al-Halhouli’s team.

In addition, they prepared carbon- and silver-based ink to be printed by the team engineers to be integrated with the technological devices for the sensing of chemical compounds of interest.

At the end of the visit, Dr. Noureddine gave a seminar on “Strategies for the design of electrochemical nanobiosensors”, where most recent achievements in the field of development of the biosensors and their uses for the detection of glucose, xanthine, pesticides, antigens and DNA were introduced."
