Amman- 14 November 2021

The Vision Rehabilitation Center (VRC) at the German Jordanian University (GJU) announced the beginning of a specialized course in visual rehabilitation entitled: "Low vision for clinical optometrists."

This course consists of three parts; each part consists of 20 hours. The topics include Evaluation of optical functions and magnification, Clinical training in the visual rehabilitation clinic, and Providing supportive equipment and training.

The course allows the participants to obtain sufficient information to serve the visually impaired people and provide them with the necessary rehabilitation services. The VRC trains the specialists to provide the best rehabilitation services for visually impaired people by putting themselves in the place of the low-sighted person using simulated glasses in daily activities when performing functional eye exams and using supportive devices.

GJU (through the VRC) aims to spread awareness about visual impairment and provide assistance to people with visual challenges as part of the community service besides contributing to increasing the independence of this group, improving their quality of life, and integrating them into society.
