Amman-5 October, 2015

Two groups of students were welcomed at GJU today with a welcome lunch and a screening of the image film. 21 students coming from 15 partner universities of applied science arrived at GJU to study here for one exchange semester; as well as 22 Arabic Language Students coming from 10 German universities who will spend a semester at GJU taking intensive Arabic language courses.

Both groups were accompanied by their GJU study buddies, or tandem partners, as they are called by the Arabic Language students, who are helping the students to get situated during the first weeks in Jordan and at GJU.

The GJU Vice President Prof. Manar Fayyad welcomed the new incoming students at the university and emphasized that they will get a great experience during their stay in Jordan.

For his part, Prof. Anton Mangstl, the Vice President for international Affairs urged the new exchange students to seize this opportunity to learn more about Jordan especially those who are going to study the Arabic language.

Dr. Dorothea Jecht, Director of International Office and Dr. Jochen Pleines, Dean of School of Applied Humanities and Languages greeted all the students, wishing them a fruitful stay at Jordan.

It is worthy to mention that many exchange coordinators also followed the invitation, and answered the questions of the new students. Representatives of a newly established German Club introduced the activities and asked for volunteers to shape the future program of the club, which will likely include cultural, and community service activities, as well as weekend trips.
