On Thursday 15th of March 2018, Jordan Society for the Prevention of Road Accidents (JSPRA), Governorate and Municipality of Madaba organized a workshop on “Traffic between Reality and Ambition” in cooperation with the German Jordanian University (GJU).

Prof. Fayyad the President of GJU, discussed with the audience that included experts in traffic, the most important reasons that cause traffic, suggestions to resolve the problem and the challenges that accompany it.

She pointed out to some challenges that force people to possess cars such as infrastructure development for the road network, safe public transport system and the nature of mountainous area.

Fayyad emphasized that GJU constantly encourages the students and the staff to use the university’s transportation in order to reduce the burden on roads, while academically it  provides the labor market with qualified engineers in the fields of Roads Design, Urban planning, Transport and Traffic Engineering, valuing the efforts of the Road Safety Center for Excellence (RSCE) at GJU in creating sustainable safe streets for all road users, rehabilitation of engineers, conducting researches and awareness campaigns in traffic and roads related issues.

At the end, a short video was displayed presenting the reality and challenges in Madaba’s roads followed by an open discussion that included Misbehaviors on the streets, Lack of restraining laws and increased numbers of cars.
