DAAD Covid-19 Scholarships

The German Jordanian University (GJU) is glad to announce to all GJU students A NEW BATCH of scholarships for both Bachelor’s and Master’s Programs of all majors, including NEW students.

The German Government and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) are granting 1,600 Corona Scholarships through the University of Applied Sciences Magdeburg-Stendal comprised of 1,250 EURO each (in total 2,000,000 EURO) to cover part of the tuition fees only.

These Scholarships are designed to aid GJU students and their parents and to support them financially during the ongoing Corona Crisis.

 

 

The Scholarships are distributed as following:

 

  1. New Students:
  • 400 Scholarships for Jordanian students - First Semester 2020/2021.
  1. Current Students:
  • 350 Scholarships for Jordanian students - First Semester 2020/2021.
  • 50 Scholarships for International students - First Semester 2020/2021.
     
  • 750 Scholarships for Jordanian students - Second Semester 2019/2020.
  • 50 Scholarships for International students - Second Semester 2019/2020.

 

  • The scholarships cover part of the tuition fees only. (What is equal to 1250 Euros before being  exchanged to JOD).
  • The scholarship amount will be credited to the student’s GJU account.

  1. Eligibility:

Applicants must

  • Be a GJU Student of any nationality.
  • Not be recipient of any other scholarship.
  • Have a high GPA in comparison  to other students in their  study program, Or
  • Can prove a severe financial impact due to Covid-19.

 

  1. Criteria

 

  • Excellency, as proven by the GPA in comparison to other students of the same program, or High School GPA for new students.

            AND/ OR

  • Corona related need (if applicable),  must be  proven by any of  the following:

    • Statement from the Social Security Corporation, in these cases,

      • If your parents are employees and one or both of them lost their jobs during 2020.
      • If your parents are employees and have been financially affected -partially or completely- by the pandemic during 2020.
  • Statement from Ministry of Industry and Trade, in the case your parents own a business that has been financially affected -partially or completely- by the pandemic during 2020.
  • International students who cannot provide a proof from the Social Security Corporation or the Ministry of Industry and Trade might provide a similar document, approved by their embassy.

In case you want to apply as financially affected by Covid-19, please provide one of the following documents.

 

 

The Process:

  • Family Book (دفتر العائلة).
  • Statement from the Social Security Corporation.
  • Statement from Ministry of Industry and Trade.

 

Update (20/9/2020) 

You can also submit a Commercial Record (سجل تجاري) of your business. Please make sure that the record is in one of the affected sectors. These sectors has been approved by the government. To check the sectors, click here.

  • Log in using your GJU credentials (your GJU e-mail and password)
  • Fill in the form and upload the required documents.
  • The deadline for submitting the applications is 8/10/2020.
  • Results will be announced by 15/11/2020.
  • Scholarships will be credited to your GJU account.

 

  1. Selection procedure:
  • Each STUDY program receives a certain number of scholarships that reflects the number of students in that program in comparison to other study programs (i.e. programs that have more students will get more scholarships).
  • The accumulative GPA of the last registered semester will be considered.  
  • Corona affected cases will be given priority regardless the GPA (as proved by the official documents, and the selection committee decision).
