Prof. Ala L. Hijazi
Dr. Ala Hijazi is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering. Prior to joining GJU, he worked at the Hashemite University - Jordan, King Abdul-Aziz University - Saudi Arabia, and Wichita State University - USA. Dr. Hijazi holds a Ph.D. degree in Aerospace Engineering (Structures & Solid Mechanics) from Wichita State University. He also holds M.Sc. and B.Sc. degrees in Mechanical Engineering.
Dr. Hijazi teaches courses in the broad area of solid mechanics and mechanical design. Courses that he taught include Statics, Dynamics, Mechanics of Materials, Machine Design I & II, Mechanical Drawing, Strength of Materials Lab, and Workshops. In addition, he also developed and taught a course in the field of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT).
Dr. Hijazi’s main research interest is in the field of experimental solid mechanics and he is particularly interested in the implementation and development of non-invasive measurement techniques. Dr. Hijazi is an expert in the field of optical measurements, especially for high-speed motion and deformation. He also has a long and rich experience in mechanical systems design, optical systems design, and NDT.
