Amman- May 10, 2016

The Information and Research Center IRCKHF and the National Center for Culture and Arts at King Hussein Foundation organized a stage show at German Jordanian University on Tuesday May 10, 2015 , that is addressing  the issue of empowering care leavers in Jordan: “ Youth Deprived of Family Ties at Birth”.

The show aimed at spreading the realities of care leavers and understanding them, removing the stigma and discrimination towards orphans of ‘unknown origin’ and helping them to overcome the obstacles they are facing with the society.

Through the show GJU students had an overview about this issue through the reality of  a young girl –care leaver- who transferred from the care house when she became 18 years old , and the extreme harsh situations she have been through , and the less of education, care and work opportunities.

IRCKHF  has been working on the project “Empowering Care Leavers in Jordan: “ Youth Deprived of Family Ties at Birth” since 2014 , supporting  orphans of ‘unknown origin’ in Jordan and provide them with an official support system to allow a smooth transition from alternative care to care leavers.  The first phase of the project was looking to identify all forms of discrimination towards orphans of ‘unknown origin’ in Jordan whether social, legal, or other through an extensive research conducted by the team and in partnership with care leavers in Jordan.
