The German Jordanian University and the Royal Film Commission (RFC) signed a strategic cooperation and partnership agreement, foremost of which is the establishment of the Jordanian Cinema Academy (JCA) at GJU.

The agreement, which was signed on behalf of the university by its president, Prof. Ala'aldeen Al-Halhouli, and on behalf of the academy, its Director General, Mr. Muhannad Al-Bakri, stipulated the start of establishing the academy at GJU’s campus in Jabal Amman and supporting the student scholarship program allocated to the academy's students by providing 20 educational scholarships in the professional diploma program of the academy as well as providing them with job opportunities, and developing and designing a specialized curriculum in filmmaking in Arabic.

GJU’s President, Prof. Ala’aldeen Al-Halhouli, expressed his pleasure with this partnership which is based on its orientation to invest its scientific and administrative competence in serving Jordan’s economic growth and contributing to economic development in response to the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein.

Prof. Al-Halhouli added that the university has invested in its campus building in Jabal Amman making it a scientific beacon and an attractive environment for young people and the local community to hold seminars and cultural and artistic sessions to transform community service into reality.

For his part, Al-Bakri indicated that this cooperation is an important step in the field of filmmaking and it contributes to the development of film culture in Jordan and the development of training programs to enable all groups in society to make films and create a space for them where they can tell their stories and their community’s.

The signing of the agreement was attended by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Jordan Studios, Mr. Raja Gargour, the Vice President of GJU, Prof. Malek Alsharairi, and a number of officials from both sides.
