On Wednesday 9th of May 2018, a delegation from Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) headed by Senior Policy Officer Mr. Jürgen Schmid, German Embassy in Amman, Deputy Head of Cooperation Dr Johanna Speer, representatives of partner organizations; The German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), KfW Development Bank, Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR) and German Academic Exchange Services (DAAD).

The president of GJU Prof. Manar Fayyad addressed a speech where she said that

The visit underlines the great commitment of the German side to the common goal of enhancing of academic education towards higher quality and increased employability.

She stressed that GJU is not only committed to explore new, innovative ways of teaching and learning, and to address the demands of the labor market, feeling great responsibility towards the many refugees from Syria, who found a temporary home in Jordan as in Germany, as well as towards disadvantaged Jordanian students.

Mr. Schmidt said it was important to learn about the university’s experience in education and building bridges between cultures, beside GJU’s activities in reducing the gap between the academic side and the private sector.

Vice President Dr. Dorit Schumann, reviewed GJU’s progress in the Dual Studies program mentioning that this approach is very successful in Germany therefore it was decided to include the program to GJU’s students experience.

GIZ representatives Mr. Mohamed Badran and Mr. Henner Kirchner spoke about MOVEHET and Josy programs and their contributions in the areas of employment and education.

From his side Dual Studies Advisor at GJU Randolph Galla conducted a presentation explaining Dual Studies structure and content in addition to company’s involvement mentioning the Dual Pilot Module in logistics with Aqapa Logistics Village (ALV) initiated via SMLS and its huge returns to both students who participated and ALV.

From GJU’s side Vice President Dr. Atef AlKharabsheh, Vice President for International Affairs Dr. Dorit Schumann, Dean of School of Management and Logistics Sciences Dr. Malek Al Sharairi (SMLS) and Dual Studies Advisor Mr. Randolph Galla attended the meeting.
