On Tuesday, July 3, 2019, Dr. Anton Friesen and Michael Lechner members of Deutscher Bundestag visited the German Jordanian University (GJU), where the President of GJU Prof. Manar Fayyad, the Senior Policy Advisor to the President Christof Muehlberg and the Director of the International Office (IO) Jens Hegemann welcomed the delegation.

The Delegation’s visit aimed at learning more about the University’s schools and programs, the main features, the German Dimension and the German Year.

Prof. Manar assured the university’s pleasure of increasing the collaboration with the German Bundestag, stating that GJU invests in the German dimension in many ways. As examples, Fayyad mentioned the German Language, the Flying Faculty Program, and Train the Trainer for the Administrative staff. Also, the constant collaboration and expansion of German Universities partners who reached about one hundred and twenty partner.

Prof. Manar introduced the university’s involvement in the refugees’ issues where two programs (professional Diploma and Master) were created as a response to the growing crisis of the refugees and to professionalize social work practices on a national, regional and international scale.

In Addition, Manar mentioned EDU-Syria project that is managed by GJU and funded through the EU Regional Trust Fund in Response to the Syrian Crisis. The Project helps Syrian refugees in Jordan and vulnerable Jordanians from host communities get access to higher education through a set of scholarship programs.

In the end, the delegation toured the campus.
