The German Jordanian University (GJU) celebrated the closing ceremony of The first phase of the Hult Prize, which adopts one global goal of the United Nations Development Programme every year; that focuses on creative and pioneering ideas that serve the community through the competition of universities’ students around the world.

President of GJU Prof. Manar Fayyad said that the prize is a rich opportunity for our young people to engage in creative pioneering projects with social, economic and cultural dimensions and to move towards globalization and competitiveness with the rest of the world's youth.

She added that our Jordanian youth is creative and able to take initiatives in the areas targeted by this year's competition in collecting and generating energy to change the lives of more than ten million people in six fields: Water, Agriculture, Communication, Transportation, Education and Health.

GJU Student and Campus Director for the Hult Prize Foundation, Saja Badran said that the competition motivates young people to generate executable ideas toward changing the world that needs the youth power and energy.

Member of the prize committee at GJU, student Yasmine Abdeen, explained that the competition encourages the participants to face the global challenges including energy where Jordanian universities and their students are important sources in this field.

The National Coordinator of the Hult Prize in Jordan and Palestine, Ayman Allendi cleared that 1,000 universities around the world participated in the competition, where students are encouraged to think about building social leadership as a platform for young people to compete with their peers nationally, regionally and globally.

Allendi took the opportunity to announce the launch of the National Competition, which will be held for the first time in Jordan in the near future.

At the end of the ceremony, Fayyad distributed the prizes to the winners where students Ammar Badir, Mohammed Shammout and Khaled Daoudiyya won the first place on the “Netsia” project, while students Abdul Rahman Dawwas, Shamout, Mohammed Yakhul and Ghaid Al Rousan won the second place on the “4Wheels” project and students Haneen Thabes, Hala Graira and Dr. Walid Ziyod won the third place on “Lactuca +” project.

Fayyad also honored Jury members: The Founder and Chairman of Kanz for Information Systems Center Marwan Juma, the Director of the Energy Center at the Royal Scientific Society, Walid Juma, the Director of Energy at Ezzat Marji Company, Engineer Fadi Marji and Engineer Rasmi Hamza.
