On Feb 26th  2015, His Excellency Prof. Natheer Abu-Obeid, President of GJU, met with Prof. Ing. Kerstin Kuchta, Eng. Abdullah Nsair and Dipl-Ing. Thomas Voss from Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH).

 

Prof. Majed Abu Zerig, Dr. Mohammad Al-Addous and Dr. Christina B. Class equally took part in the meeting. The project “Biogas Production in Local Communities in Jordan” is implemented by TUHH and GJU and received a EU fund of about 680,000 €. Further cooperation possibilities in the field of research, student exchange and graduate studies were equally discussed during the meeting.

 

Prof. Abu-Obeid congratulated  the team for receiving the grant and confirmed his full support for the success of the project. Additionally he expressed his sincere wish to bring this cooperation to a further level and extend it especially as TUHH is a key partner for GJU.

 

The meeting took place in the context of a 2 day kickoff meeting for the project “Biogas Production in Local Communities in Jordan”.

 

The German project members visited the GJU campus. After the meeting with his Excellency Prof. Natheer Abu-Obeid the German team visited the GJU labs related to the project and were introduced to the capacity and the available instruments and tools at GJU.

 

The establishment for the project’s lab was equally discussed. The day was closed with a visit to the GJU project at Al-Ghour “Development and Utilization of Solar Driven Water Pumping and Desalination Units for Application in Remote Areas of Jordan”.

 

It is worth mentioning that the project will run for 30 months until June 2017 and will strengthen the cooperation between Hamburg University of Technology and GJU.
