A deputation form the Municipality of Freiburg and Lawyers without Frontiers was scheduled to visit GJU on Thursady, 19th of November, to search ways of developing bilateral relationships between the two countries since GJU is considered the best institutional model that enhances the bi-national cooperation. 

Prof. Manar Fayyad , Vice president of GJU,  described the university  as a gateway to Germany as well as to Europe. She also briefed shortly about the applied educational environment of the university that has made up its former slogan; Education for Employment, and current one; Education for Employment & Entrepreneurship.   

Ms. Samah Masannat, President of the Jordanian Society for Family Empowerment and organizer of the visit, spoke about the organization that was established in 2009, and aims to allow women to work in economic and development fields and educating youth about the skills of getting a loan. Ms. Masannat praised GJU’s role in the region, especially in promoting the dialogue between both German and Jordanian youth.

She further added that the goal of the deputation’s visit to Jordan was to pave the way for a twinning project between the Municipality of Mu’tah & Almazar and the Municipality of Freiburg.

For her part, Ms. Yasmina Barbasa President of German Lawyers without Frontiers pointed out to the importance of activating cultural programs between Jordan and Germany that would strengthen relations between youth of Germany and Jordan.

All representatives were introduced to a short film about GJU. The film shows the vision of the university and the beginning of its success story, including interviews with H.E. Prof. Labib Al Khadra; founder of the university, Prof. Nahteer Abu Obeid; current president of the university and many others who contributed to the ongoing success of GJU.

It is worthy to mention that the purpose of the deputations’ visit to Jordan was to discuss ways of cooperation in the areas of municipal work, tourism, business, culture and other mutual interests between the Mu’tah & Almazar Municipality and the Municipality of Freiburg.   

The deputation included 6 experts (3 from the Town Hall and 3 from Women Lawyers without Frontiers) in the fields of tourism, business sector and women rights.
