Huawei Technologies Jordan launched its yearly Seed for The Future (SFTF) program from July 18th to July 25th, 2022. This program is targeting university students, mainly from the technology sector, and further promotes creativity amongst students by acting as a bridge between the classroom and the workforce, hence enhancing the students’ future employment opportunities.

Five students from the School of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (SEEIT) have been nominated to the program. The students were distributed into teams that included other students from Jordan, UK, and Lebanon. The teams participated in online sessions offering a rich experience involving technology courses, a leadership course, and Chinese culture experiences, besides a live visit to the tech exhibition hall was conducted. In addition, the students participated in the “Tech4Good” group project and culture exchanges with outstanding peers around the world. Outstanding projects are eligible to participate in the Global competition in November 2022.

Emil Turk an Electrical Engineering student ranked third in the program. He mentioned that the experience was unforgettable from start to end. He also said that team Jordan was divided into 4 teams, while each team included 7-8 students. They attended 2-hour sessions for 7 consecutive days. The first hour of each session was dedicated to learn about basics of future technologies such as 5G, AI, and cloud computing. Whilst in the second hour they worked in teams to learn about the Tech4Good project that steers them to find a technological solution for a local problem in Jordan. Emil recommends the program to other students, as it exposed him to the structure of 5G networks and base stations as well as the efficiency of ultra-low latency in VR, AR, and self-driving vehicles. He also thanked Dr. Ammar Gharaibeh from the Computer Engineering department for following up with them all time.

Faisal Abuna'meh a Computer Engineering student also joined the program and though that the Huawei Seed for the Future was an amazing experience. He would recommend joining it to his colleagues since it heavily depends on teamwork, entrepreneurship, and doing full research for a specific topic.
