Amman- 14 January 2017

On Thursday 11th of January 2018, third year German and English for Business Communication (GEBC) students at German Jordanian University (GJU) visited Roya News English, where they were welcomed by the English Team Chief at Roya News English, Mr.  Kamal Al Naser.

Mr. Al Naser gave the students a brief overview on how Roya News English is a growing Roya supplement in the English language that provides independent and objective coverage of Jordan, Palestine and beyond, from a local perspective. He then went on to invite GEBC students to join his team as interns over the summer and during their semester break vacation.

He added that the new television station was first introduced in the form of a website and on social media platforms like facebook and twitter in May 2017. The television station is said to be launched in the first half of 2018.

Roya uses two languages: Arabic and English in its content department. As language and business communication students, GEBC students fit right at home. Therefore, Roya is a place where GEBC students would get the chance to display and share their language competences and communication skills in various media situations. These competences cover their high level of Arabic and English in both writing and speaking which will definitely foster a high class communication service in the future.

Alleviating communication through media and content writing, Roya is one of the leading news stations in the country in relaying news with no filters. This transparent approach matches the academic and practical knowledge GEBC students have been exposed to throughout their studies at GJU and in Germany.

GJU is the first university to shed light on the importance of  social and business communication in the use of different languages through  the program GEBC offered by the School of Applied Humanities and Languages (SAHL). In a sense, people shape the communication process and GEBC students are taking on this role in striving to meet the communication needs demanded by the Jordanian public and private sectors.
